The Monkey’s Lesson

Once upon a time, two cats lived together in a cozy house. Although they were good friends, they often fought about sharing things.

One day, they found a delicious sweet called Kavum.

As usual, the cats soon found themselves in a heated argument over who should have it.

Their loud voices caught the attention of a passing monkey, who decided to get involved.

“Why are you two friends arguing so loudly?” asked the curious monkey.

“It’s my sweet!” said one cat.

“No, it’s mine!” said the other.

The clever monkey, sensing an opportunity, proposed a solution.

“If this sweet is for both of you, then you should share it equally, right?” suggested the monkey happily.

The cats agreed.

So the monkey said “ if you like I can divide this fairly between you two”.

“Alright, then you help us fairly share it” the cats requested.

As the monkey broke the sweet in two, one piece turned out to be slightly larger than the other.

“Oh no, one piece is bigger than the other!” cried the cats.

“No worries, I will take a bite from the bigger piece to fix it.” The monkey took a bite from the larger piece.

But then, the other piece seemed bigger. “Now this piece looks bigger and that is unfair!” said the monkey, taking another bite from it.

The cats were helpless.

This kept going until the monkey had eaten both pieces of the sweet.

Then the monkey said, “Well, now neither of you got more, and no one was treated unfairly. So, let’s be happy about it!” before going away on its journey.

Realizing that they could not enjoy the sweet altogether, the two cat friends made a promise to each other.

They vowed never to fight over sharing again.

And from that day on, they lived in harmony, sharing everything equally and happily ever after.
